ABSTRACT "SKETCHES"

ABSTRACT SKETCH 1 (2008)

10cm x 13cm

ABSTRACT SKETCH 2 (2008)
acrylic on plasticised paper
20cm x 14cm

I rescued a load of project file dividers from my desk - they are made of a flimsy plastic material - which I think is paper based, hence my description. It's the same material I used for "RED RIBBON". The shiny impervious surface is quite interesting to play around with - and these two are experiments with acrylic and palette knives that have worked out quite well and stand by themselves. I suppose I see them as sketches / preliminaries for larger works - hence the titles. I'd be interested to find out where I can get bigger sheets of the stuff. I,m particularly fond of "No. 1"

These and many other pieces of my work are for sale.

Just email me to discuss

  1. This is probably saying something about me more than your pictures, but I don't see them as entirely abstract. The first one is a very dynamic representation of a school of fish, even down to the pebbles at the bottom of the aquarium or the sea bed. The second is obviously the place where mouldy pizzas covered in Ketchup go to die. I seem to crave meaning in what I see and I find both pictures very appealing. Together they make a thought-provoking contrast.

  3. Ivor - do you think I might get a contract for designing boxes for Pizza Hut ? As for the fishes - must admit that I thought that as well - but not intentional.

Eneida - thanks for your comment - a big hug back !
