NEW YEAR - NEW WORK

UNTITLED 09/1 (2008)
acrylic on canvas
19cm x 25cm
Was going to post this last night - but ... didn't. This is my first experiment with one of my Christmas presents ( extra thick acrylic paints - big tubes of them !) done just before the new year. [Happy 2009 by the way - wherever you are].
They behave a lot more like oil-paints and cover the canvas really densely with first application. Am looking forward to doing some larger works with these.
Always interested in your views.
Most of my work is for sale - just email me to discuss - I will be plunging into the world of PayPal this year by the way.
ps I will be tidying this blog up over the next month - so expect to see some changes - nothing major - it will still look basically the same

  2. I really like this one. =) It makes me feel more calm and harmonic than many of your other paintings do, I like that. I'm looking forward to seeing what else your Christmas presents will bring into this world, with your help and inspiration of course.

  3. Did you see the posting of art by Mark Khaisman today on Robot Nine. Unique art made with packing tape on plexiglass, has really struck a chord, tons of all positive comments.

  4. I like this - the woven, textural look particularly appeals to me.

Happy New Year and have fun with those paints.

  5. This is excellent. Did you intend the people to appear in it?(I see several in this struggling against the flames) Rotate the image through 90 degrees and you have the world on fire.
There is something intriguing about dark blue and orange intermixed. I love to use these colours in my abstracts, too.
I used to use oils, but found acrylics much better, not only in drying time but for palette knife work.
    Nicely executed!
