ACEOs

This is by way of a quick catch up and a belated happy 2012 to all of you. For 3 months up until December I was working on the British Art Show 7 in Plymouth - part of a team looking after the artworks and explaining and discussing with visitors to one of the biggest contemporary art shows in Europe.

As a result I've not created a massive amount of work since mid September 2011.

But I have been experimenting with ACEOs - here's a couple of examples -

Click on this link for the full range so far and an explanation of the term ACEO  : MY DOG ATE ART : ACEOs

In short - as miniature artworks - they are incredibly good value for original artworks.

In the UK they are £ 9.30 each (inc postage). Anywhere else just ask and I'll quote on the current exchange rate and postage.

( as a rough guide however - in the US each would be approx $ 15.50 and in Europe 11.40 Euros ... inclusive of postage )

I sold 4 immediately they were posted - which also resulted in me getting a commission for a full size painting so get in quick !  Just email me : mydogateart@gmail.com  no obligation.

I am also back at the bigger canvases again. More soon.

DANCING FIGURE 09/34 (2009)

33cm x 24cm

price (unframed) £ 48.00 GBP (see below)

This is one of a handful of paintings I did the week before last - whilst working on my canvases for www.galleryguesthouse.com

The figure is an amalgam of a Germano-Celtic mask (including the pointy head) from around 400 BC and a South Sea island figure painting. I added a shirt and tie and gave it a carnival feel.

PRICE £ 48.00 GBP (unframed - free p&p within UK).

PayPal invoice will follow.
If you would like to have this framed email me to discuss price. For orders outside of the UK email me to discuss price of postage etc.If you want to order more than one item I may be able to offer a discount - just ask. If you would like to commission some work just ask as well.

FIGURE AND ABSTRACT

COUNCILLOR 09/28 (2009)

acrylic on paper

34cm x 23cm

price £ 47.00 GBP ( unframed, p&p free within uk - see below)

ABSTRACT 09/27 (2009)

acrylic on plasticised paper

14cm x 19cm

price £ 28.00 GBP - (framed inc p&p within UK see below)

Here are the first two works from the weekend just gone. The abstract reminds me of printed 19th century wallpaper ... I think. I love the way acrylic slides around on the smooth surface - before drying rock-hard with lots of lumps and bumps.

"COUNCILLOR" is a larger version. If you would be interested in a commission email me as well. of FACE O9/25 on my previous post. The original coloured pencil sketch was based on a newspaper image of a locally elected official ( I think in the Carribean - can't remember now).I remember he looked a bit stuffed into his suit and tie - he was pushing his way through a crowd - I think someone was holding a poster up on the right. I'm quite pleased with the end result. Always glad to hear what you think.

If you are interested in buying these or a commission - please email me to discuss.

"COUNCILLOR" is priced £ 47.00 GBP (p&p free) unframed

"ABSTRACT" is priced £ 28.00 GBP framed ( p&p included)

VIBRANT ART ON THE CHEAP !!!

FACE 09/26 (2009)

colour pencil on paper

14 cm x 10cm

FIGURE 09/25 (2009)

coloured pencil on paper

9cm x 6cm

FACE 09/24 (2009)

coloured pencil on paper

14cm x 10cm
These 3 pictures will have to be my last posting on this blog for a few days as the laptop is going on holiday with my wife and daughter. I will have to resort to public access internet for a few days. I like these - as they are done with the cheapest materials - ie children's coloured pencils from a bargain pack from a local supermarket ( and a cheap fibre tip pen for two of them). It always makes me wince when I see the price of some artists' materials - but I suspect it all adds to the mystique of being an artist. Despite the cost -the vividness of the colour is cracking (in my opinion).

I am quite pleased of the second image - FIGURE 09/25 - as it is the first truly miniature image I have ever really put on this site. I would like to hear your views and opinions.

As always - these and lots of other work on this site is for sale, or alternatively, if you are interested in a commission - just email me

FIGURE 09/2 (2008)

oil-pastel

16cm x 21cm

FACE 09/3 (2008)

ink and watercolour on paper

14cm x 19cm

FACE 09/4 (2008)

ink and oil-pastel on paper

12cm x 19cm

A few more odds and ends from 2008 - the top figure I had intended to use to greet the New Year as it has a certain aspirational feel - or maybe the person looks a bit puzzled ?

If you are interested in buying any of my work just email me

mydogateart@googlemail.com

a bit more TIDYING UP 2008

As promised here are another 3 images done over the last month or so - some of which may end up as bigger works or are at least good practice pieces. All three are oil-pastel ( which became a popular medium for me) on paper.

FISH (2008)

oil pastel on paper

20cm x 15cm

This is another version of an earlier sketch - I think it is definitely destined to become a large canvas at some point.

FACE (2008)

oil pastel on paper

14cm x 20cm

another mediaeval feel here

FIGURE (2008)

oil-pastel on paper

11cm x 20cm

Can't decide if this figure is slightly sinister or not - let me know what you think.

All three are for sale - just email me to discuss

mydogateart@googlemail.com

A couple more tomorrow night to wave goodbye to 2008.
